I have a picture of my sister and I in the 1970’s, as tiny girls, standing on a beach in our retro swimming gear.  The ocean is behind us and we look a wee bit chilly.  I never knew where it was taken until recently when my Mum told me it was taken at Cullen Beach.

Last year, during a trip to Aberdeenshire and Morayshire we visited lots of beaches and I made sure Cullen was on the list.  There is more than a mile of sand, divided at the halfway point by a large rock that looks like a shark fin.  There were lots of pebbles to choose from, at the far end of the beach, next to the cliff.  The pebbles at Cullen were all quite flat in profile so I chose one with a bit of texture and had it cast in solid sterling silver.  Its total weight is 10.7g and 22mm x 15mm – like a miniatrure Machrihanish Pebble.
