“Oh Flower of Scotland……….” The Scottish Thistle is not only a pretty and prickly weed but it is the National Emblem of Scotland too.  An important symbol of Scottish heraldry that appears everywhere and symbolises strength, bravery and determination.  It is also seen as a good luck charm and it is believed to offer protection to those carrying or wearing it. The perfect companion.

I have been attempting to add a Thistle to my collection for a long time and I am absolutely delighted with this pendant.  I went to Edinburgh in March 2024 and finally completed a sand casting course so that I could cast pieces in my workshop. I took with me an old thistle button, which I successfully cast but it was not exactly what I had in mind for my Talisman piece.  After a lot of hunting online I found a tiny vintage thistle impression stamp and set about experimenting with it at home.

The pendant is the perfect combination of size and thickness so that it has a lovely weight but is not too big and bulky (no medallions here).  Each pendant measures 17mm in diameter and weighs 6.8g including the bail for the chain to run through.  The reverse is perfectly smooth making it an incredibly tactile trinket. The hallmark has been stamped on the back of the pendant.  Lightly oxidised, to highlight the fine detail, and then polished.  This pendant hangs perfectly on a solid sterling silver Trace Chain and you can choose your preferred length at checkout.
