Obelisk – A tapering stone pillar, set up as a monument or landmark. Obelisks are most commonly four sided commemorative structures, which were believed to attract the reviving rays of the sun.

When we moved to Perthshire in October 2022 we discovered many wonderful walks, right on our doorstep, including one that took us up Craig Gibbon hill. Hidden in the trees, on the hill, is an Obelisk that was erected in the 1800’s by Colonel Mercer, a monument to allow him to look out over his estate from all four sides.

My interpretation of this obelisk, in true Silverpickle style, is a small 3D hand carved heart that rotates round the entire ring.

This is a chunky, statement piece of jewellery as the ring itself is made out of 3.5mm thick solid sterling silver round wire. The heart measures 5mm x 5mm and sits on a tiny handmade ring (5mm in diameter) that the main chunky ring fits through. The little heart obelisk rotates the ring freely and is incredibly playful.
