With 2020 lockdown we all had to rethink our holiday plans and consider a staycation. I love Scotland so it was just another great excuse to discover a part of our beautiful country that I had always wanted to visit.

Machrihanish is a tiny village with a big sandy beach on the west coast of Scotland, on the Mull of Kintyre.  Machrihanish Bay is 3 miles of sandy beach which is littered with pebbles of all shapes and sizes.  We beachcombed for days and collected loads of lovely pebbles.  This particular pebble was found by my husband and I decided to have it cast in solid sterling silver as a momento of the year we all stayed at home.

The pebble itself weighs 14.6g  and measures approximately 18mm x 28mm at its longest and widest points. I was delighted that the casting process picked up every pitt of natural texture on the surface as it makes the piece so tactile.  It has been hallmarked in Edinburgh on the reverse flat surface and a hole has been drilled for the jumpring, which has been soldered closed, enabling the chain to run through it securely. The chain is a sterling silver 2.5mm Belcher Chain with a length of 24″.

This is a very limited edition piece and only minimal numbers of pebbles will be ‘occassionally’ available.
